UnboxingThe box it comes in: What's inside: Packing slip, just to prove that I got what I got: Toss out that packing slip; where's my DX?!? Removed from the box. Cover on the left, Kindle on the right. Again, same as previous verse: The Kindle, still protected in its box: The cover: This is cute. You have to pull a tab to open the Kindle, and this is what's printed on the tab: Rrrrrip. Various images of the black inside: Here's what's printed on the box for the cover: The DX at last! When you plug it in, here's the lovely image displayed: There's always a blurry shot in one of these unboxings. In this case, it's a shot of the keyboard. After that lovely reading-beneath-a-tree image, the User's Guide appears: A quick detour to the cover, while the DX charges: |
Trying It OutA few shots of the DX in action: Same as above, in landscape mode: Another page: A regular book (in this case, Peter Drucker's Management): Expanded to the largest font size: With a regular pen for scale: A manga (Formera, an American comic in manga style): I zoomed the camera in to look at the detail of the image. You can see the pixellation, but it looks quite good, in my opinion: The web browser, with my Twitter homepage loaded: Twitter in landscape mode: The menu in landscape mode: Various views of Wikipedia in landscape mode: Side-by-side comparison of a Kindle 2 and a Kindle DX: A PDF! With lots of text, charts, tables, and an image, no less: A webpage with lots of formatting (this one, in fact): Side-by-side comparison of a print book and a Kindle book (not the same book, though): A less than lovely PDF; this one had scanning problems. Doesn't look great on my laptop, either. A different PDF, this one scanned nicely. All crisp and clean. |
That's it. Thanks for coming!
