The Trail

The Trail will be a fantasy tabletop RPG…that's not meant to be played at the table.

Features:

  1. Play anywhere: The game is so rules-light that you can play it in a car, while hiking, or pretty much anywhere, without the need for any materials or equipment. You don't even need dice to play, although it does have a form of randomizer.
  2. Explore a dangerous wilderness: In many fantasy games, PCs spend very little time actually experiencing their fantasy world, instead spending the vast majority of their time in a town or a specific location fighting monsters. In The Trail, wilderness exploration is integrated into the game, where the PCs must deal with specific wilderness encounters before getting to the lair of the monsters they're going to fight.
  3. Gain magic through adventuring: In this world, magic can only be cast through artifacts (such as rings and amulets), which you can get by defeating monsters. Do you want to cast the fireball spell? Go to the abandoned temple of the fire god and defeat the elemental that guards it.

I'm also planning a traditional tabletop version of the rules, complete with rules for using dice.
